Thirty SIX weeks

This day was a bit of a bummer... Ok, if we are being honest, it was more than a bit of a bummer. I woke up feeling unrested although I got more sleep than normal, bloated, crampy, and just sub-standard with a large dose of a headache. However, I did pull my act together long enough to take a couple goofy 36 week photos before I went to work.

Anway, I went to work and drank 11 bottles of water (my average work day consists of 8) trying to wash away the "ick" but it didn't pass. This evening we had plans to hang out with the Burnams for dinner but I just couldn't get myself pulled together. So, I'm now sitting in bed curled up with my heating pad on high and "Nashville" playing beside my blog screen as I make my best attempt at showing humor through pain. Here are some comical things I never knew or expected about pregnancy:

*Ironing maternity shirts is horrible! I'm not a big ironing person (as Deb found out when I texted her in  a panic needing her ironing board because I don't own one and haven't ever needed one... until this week!) but all the extra fabric makes ironing quite a chore. Usually, I just stick with wrinkles :)

*People stared and stared at my belly for the first 7 months of pregnancy but wouldn't ask about me being pregnant because they didn't want to offend me... except the lack of eye contact while they are trying to figure out the status of my pregnancy is somewhat awkward!

*People deliberately fight with me about the gender my own baby!! Excuse me crazy lady, I've looked at this child every month for 8 months now and really, why do I need your opinion? And for some crazy reason if she pops out as a "he", am I really going to seek you out to thank you for sharing your opinion while I'm rushing to repaint and redecorate in blue instead of purple?!?!? Uhhhhhh.... no.

*The term "the glow" isn't necessarily about how wonderful you look. It could be because you are suddenly sweating due to a crazy hormone surge OR about how greasy your face has become and NOT because you are looking fabulous all the time. My acne has doubled since getting pregnant. Thankfully for everyone looking at me, mine have mostly visited right on my hair line so they are able to be covered up by "poufing" my hair.

*Many people have asked what my cravings are and I've thought many times about making one up to fit "the norm". However, I must say that I've significantly increased my intake of pears, grapes, and peanut butter since getting pregnant. Every time I go to the store I think I will choose a new fruit this week but I always end up with grapes or pears or BOTH in the cart!! As far as peanut butter goes, whether its on a sandwich, on a spoon with white chips, or in a recipe, I will take every ounce I can.

*This is one tummy that you can't suck in. I tried to squeeze between 2 dining tables at work last week.... uh, it didn't end well.

Tuesday was a Chloe-kind-of-day and it was awesome. Her nursery was greatly behind where I wanted it to be at this point in my pregnancy. Soooo... I dedicated all day to my girl. Started the morning with her checkup which the doctor noted she is "on the small side of the normal" at 5lbs 10 oz. No cervix check like I was expecting but that comes at my next appt on Tuesday. We then hit up the local children's consignment stores and bought some bows. I have an abundant amount of headbands from the baby shower but lacking in the bow dept so I boosted my inventory. The entire afternoon was spent on the nursery. Hubby got the crib and dresser put together this past week so I was able to start the wall decor which was fun, fun, fun. I had a tough time knowing how to hang different things so check out my conversation with my dad. It's quite comical:

Dad: How heavy is it? And can you bend the wire so you can hook to it?
Me: How the heck do I know how heavy it is? Do I put it on the scale?
Dad: Can you hold it with 1 finger or 1 arm or 2 arms or does your husband have to hold it up for you.
Me: I can hold it with 2 fingers comfortably.
Me: And it's chicken wire. It's pretty tight but I'm pretty strong....
Me: Do I hang it from down here?
Dad: No, above that. Above your finger.

I think there was a quiet "DUH" before he sent that but that's ok. He was very patient with me. After some back & forth, I figured where to hook it but then I needed to know which size of screw. So, I then send this:
Me: Do I use middle finger length or pinky length screw?
Dad: Middle
Me: Ok, almost done... What about these little frames?
Me: Will the screw on the back hold it or use a bigger one? I included my feet so you can see the size :)
Dad: Little one since your feet are little.

And that, folks, is how a woman figures out how to hang stuff. And I'm very happy with the nursery progress. Pictures will be up before you know it!!

Sorry for the long post. Hope it was at least a bit of comedy for your day! Exciting things happening next week. Jill & Jacy are throwing me a baby shower on Tuesday and I'm having a few girls over for a Christmas goodie party on Wednesday.

Pretty fun things happening as the countdown continues.... 4 weeks to go.
