TWO MONTHS!

Who wouldn't love looking down to this each morning?

I must admit, this was one of the most fun yet hardest weeks yet. Chloe is smiling all the time now and it just melts my heart every time. She wants to be happy so badly... but she is in lots of pain which has led to it being a hard week.

Prior to seeing the Dr about a week and a half ago, Chloe was using soy milk which seemed to be working well... until her spit up started. At the appointment for her acid reflux, Dr Bauman said the soy milk we had switched to didn't have anything to do with her discomfort at feeding time so we switched back to her sensitive formula since it was cheaper, came in larger canisters, and wouldn't affect her tummy. Within 24 hours of switching her over, she started crying again with each feeding but not spitting up. She would pull her legs up to her tummy and just cry and cry on and off for about an hour after each feeding. So, not knowing what else to do, I switched her back to soy. She completely quit any fussiness when I made that switch... until she got constipated about 5 days later. After 4 days of that, we got it worked out (wish I could say "no pun intended" but I did intend it!) and she was back to my happy girl.... until 4 days ago. All night and day went smoothly. Normal baby spit up at every couple burps and happy afterward. Then, she began screaming uncontrollably at her 5:00 feeding. By screaming I mean you have to turn her head away from your ear because it hurts. By screaming I mean you have to strip off her clothes because she is sooooo worked up that her clothes get sweaty. By screaming I mean red face, back arched, inconsolable crying that no amount of singing, bouncing, rocking, pacifier-offering, or mama-crying-too will stop it. It was horrible. For two days this happened. Then, I did a horrible parent thing. I decided to switch her yet again. I know, I know. She needs to start something and get used to it but I don't know which is the better/worse of two evils. So, two days ago I began mixing 2 oz sensitive with 4oz soy. Sure enough, I've got one smart girl because the fussing began upon the very first time I mixed the two. The longer I've kept them mixed, the more extensive the fussing gets. I was absolutely at my wits end. I didn't know what to do. My poor girl will sometimes burp, cry for a few seconds, then look up at me and smile. It's such a sad thing. I decided I would go back to soy and have a happy girl for 22 hours a day and just deal with 2 hours of ear piercing cries. Yet, even with soy this time, she fussed and spit up and fussed and fussed and spit up for hours after she ate. This morning we went to the Dr and he has now made her switch to hypoallergenic formula so we will see if this does the trick. Until we find a solution, i now keep a bath towel draped over the sofa behind me and a hand towel always at my side. Check out our morning covered in towels....

She LOVES her black & white books from Mimi. I've been able to prepare some nice meals and even go to the bathroom without any fussing this way. She is soooo cute. I'll open the book and she will stare for a few minutes. When she starts getting bored, she will start wiggling. I will turn the page or put the opposite page into her line of vision and she will go back to being completely still. Again, she will be completely still for a few minutes then start wiggling. And the process repeats over and over. I love it.

She is eating almost 6 oz at some of her feedings and going at least 4 hours between eating during the day and usually 5+ at night. Last night she went 5pm-1am between eating and then 1am-6:30am. So proud :)

We are starting to get more & more comments about seeing red in her hair.

She is 9 lb, 7 oz.

Shots are next week....

When she sneezes, it's almost always in multiples. Reminds me of my dear friend Annalise :)

She loves her activity mat now. I prop her head on a pillow and she will just stare at it. Every once in a while she will hit the dangly things but mostly she just kicks the butterfly at her feet that makes a rustling noise. She laid there for almost 30 mins this morning!

And continues to love her swing...
